Amira Mohammed

Amira Mohammed is a Palestinian peace activist with Israeli citizenship and a uniquely international perspective. She was born in the UK and raised in California before spending her teenage years and early adulthood in the Sheik Jarah neighborhood of Jerusalem. Amira weaves together her divergent life experiences to forge a new sustainable identity focused on promoting tolerance through dialogue. She currently works as a project coordinator for Yala Young Leaders, an initiative housed in the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation that provides leadership and civil society training for diverse groups from over 20 countries across MENA. She is also a sought-after speaker and runs workshops in Israel, Palestine and Jordan. As a teenager, Amira watched events unfold first-hand as her neighbours in Sheikh Jarrah were being evicted, yet as an adult she chose to volunteer for Israel's National Services. Amira first volunteered to serve as an x-ray technician, then became the first-ever national service volunteer in the Israeli Ministry of Regional Cooperation.
